…California to Iowa, go!
afrofuturistlibrarian asked: What made you want to be an archivist? I am still trying to figure out my specialization. When did it click?
I chose to specialize in special collections in order to have access to maintaining and preserving unique collections not found elsewhere. I enjoy the rare 1st edition Catcher in the Rye as found in UIUC’s “Rare Book & Manuscript Library [non-circulating], Call Number: 813 Sa33c, With dust jacket (first issue)”. I am consistently fascinated by the photos, manuscripts, correspondences, and film media found in the AFI Archives. Providing access to researchers who are writing books or making movies, it’s what I’d love to do for the rest of my life, check it out! “Preserving Hollywood at the American Film Institute: Spotlight on Ziba Zehdar“
Yet I am a working Librarian because there are not as many opportunities to work full time in archives… =(*
To be or not to be an Archivist.
That is the question
