Week 3

April 6, 1951

Found this typed letter from 1951 with the SAME day & month as the one I was born on in 1982! Little things like these make working in the archives way cool (Ok I get excited easily).  I was able to take pictures this week in the Archives with the permission of my great Librarian mentor at the AFI Conservatory Louis B. Mayer Library. So here are some cool pictures for you! (Took some around the AFI lot too, click on the thumbnail for a WAY larger version!)

Week 13

So I did not go in this Friday/Saturday (Friday was my birthday and Saturday was closed for AFI Campus Spring Break) but now I am 30 years old and have great school news to share today!

I am to receive the C. Berger Group Entrepreneurial Promise Award at GSLIS Graduation next month!

This award is given to a student who exhibits unusual creativity, reflects an innovative spirit and shows the most promise for an outstanding career in a special library, non-traditional library setting or as an entrepreneur. Sponsor of the award is C. Berger Group, Inc., Carol Stream, IL.

So honored :D!!!!

“ENTREPRENEURIAL PROMISE AWARD”
This award is given to a student who exhibits unusual creativity, reflects an innovative spirit and shows the most
promise for an outstanding career in a special library, non-traditional library setting or as an entrepreneur. The award is
sponsored by the Graduate School of Library and Information Science.”

Ziba pursued the MS via LEEP from California. Even though she was physically distant from Illinois, she was consistently engaged with the School through varied media and activities—including participating in the first GSLIS student exchange program to Puerto Rico. Our community has benefited greatly from Ziba’s expert communication and contagious enthusiasm. We look forward to seeing her continue to make a positive impact in future endeavors.

It’s been a year now

My time at the Louis B. Mayer Library as an intern archivist is ending. =(* I’ve learned so much.  Hopefully I get a chance to present my findings at the Society of American Archivists Conference this year!
